Company History
LAXOR, Inc. (LAXOR®, LAXOR) was founded by three physicians with decades of clinical practice experience between them. In early 2000 they realized that the Internet could be used to safely store and make health information available no matter who created it, or when or where it was created. They also realized that the patient should be in control of his or her own health information.
Over the next three and one half years they developed their vision of providing control to patients where it had not existed before. Control means ownership of the information and deciding who gets to see the information.
In September 2003 they joined with Virtual Image Technology (VIT) of Fort Mill, South Carolina to form LAXOR® (LAXOR from the Latin words that mean "wide boundary"). VIT had been in the document management business for almost 30 years, safely storing sensitive financial information for several major banks. Over the next two years we refined the technology, something that continues today based upon our extensive knowledge of the Personal Health Record industry.
This led to the further refinement of our technology and the development of the LAXOR® Personal Health Record using leading-edge, web-based technology.
In 2005 LAXOR® applied for a US patent on its Personal Health Record. The US Patent and Trademark Office published the patent on April 13, 2006.
In June 2006, LAXOR® acquired the rights to a Clinical Trials Management System, which we are in the process of integrating into our Personal Health Record Service. LAXOR® believes that it will be the first and only company to have such a system as part of a personal health record. When it is fully integrated, LAXOR® will be able to offer its members easier access to life-saving clinical trials.
